Albert “Rick” Veach

Albert “Rick” Veach died unexpectedly on August 2, 2019 in Kennesaw, GA, at the age of 73.

Rick is survived by his step father, Ed (Geneva) Jolley of Chattanooga, TN; wife, Mary “Cookie” Veach of Kennesaw, GA; children, Allyson (Dave) Meldeau of Orlando, FL, Devin Schafer of Powder Springs, GA, Greg (Stacie) Veach of Nashville; grandchildren Sydney, Riley, Emma, Kimber; God-daughter Jennifer Goodner of Chattanooga, TN; aunt, Peggy Kibble of Chattanooga, TN; cousins, Rob (Beverly) Kibble, Becky (Brad) Ratchford, Kim Jenson;  fur baby Maggie May.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Jolley of Chattanooga, TN and his father Albert Veach of Chicago, Il.

Rick was born on June 23, 1946 in Chattanooga, TN to Albert Veach and Kathleen Jolley.  He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.  He married Cookie in 1969. Over their 50-year marriage the couple welcomed 3 children and 2 grandchildren into their home. Rick was a dedicated Christian family man who loved every minute with his wife, children and grandchildren.

His children and grandchildren remember him as the world’s greatest Dad, Pop Pop, soccer/baseball/softball coach, mentor, history buff and sports fan (Vols and Braves).  He enjoyed treating the family to special meals out and vacations.  He could tell you the history of everything.  Recently he spent time researching his ancestry and loved telling stories he had pieced together from generations ago.

Rick had a successful career in banking.  He retired in 2015 as the CEO of VolCorp. He also served on the board of directors at Nashville Post Office Credit Union.

Rick supported St Jude Hospital with many donations over several decades.  In lieu of flowers, Rick would have preferred donations to St Jude Hospital at www.stjude.org

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2019, 1- 4 pm at The Jockey Club located at 4620 Kentucky Saddler Ct NW, Kennesaw, GA 30152.  Please contact the family for additional details.
