Tony Heffernan

Tony Heffernan, 83, longtime business and political journalist, died peacefully at home in Atlanta on Sept. 14.

The New York City native and Columbia Journalism graduate spent his professional life covering the South.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virgie Sellers Heffernan, sister-in-law, Gwen Sellers Murrah, niece Mary Lynn Murrah Allen, nephew Carter Murrah (Connie), grand-nieces Lauren Allen, Macy and Sadie Murrah, grand-nephews Brock Allen, Mitch and Seth Murrah, and numerous cousins.

A memorial service will be held at Mizpah Church on Oct. 27 at 2:00 p.m. An appreciation of life reception will be held at home in Dec.
