Muriel (Myrt) passed away peacefully under hospice care. She was preceded in death by her parents Dick and Mary Cartwright, husband Ed Wharff, as well as 3 brothers. She is survived by her children Susan Kimbell (Kevin), Laura Borkey (David) and Chip Wharff (Paula) as well as 6 brothers and sisters, 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Muriel was the 2nd oldest of 10 children. Family, together with helping others, was always a priority. On any given day you could find her making a meal for a neighbor, taking sandwiches to the homeless or crocheting a baby blanket for family or friends. Myrt loved to be outdoors gardening and fishing. She also loved sports! Myrt loved to play softball, tennis and golf. If she couldn’t play, she was supporting those that could.

A memorial service will be scheduled later this year when family and friends can gather to celebrate Myrt.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to your local homeless shelter in her memory, or to Agape Hospice Foundation, PO Box 801087, Acworth, GA 30101.

So so sorry for your loss. Your mother was the coolest neighbor ever! As a very young boy I fondly remember her as a loving mother to Susan, Laura, Chip and Jill Baby. Much love to you all, Steve and all of the Fernelius Family. Reply to this comment

I have wonderful memories of visiting the Cartwrights in Botkins as a child. Having visited as an adult I have even more wonderful memories. I’m still in awe of the generous, thoughtful, kind nature of Muriel and the other bazillion Cartwrights. These folks have true servants’ hearts, and I know there’s a huge party in heaven this week welcoming yet another Cartwright. Reply to this comment

Our hearts go out to you all for the loss of sweet Myrt. Our choir family at Tavares FUMC enjoyed making a joyful noise with Myrt and Ed. They truly loved each other and also serving people with their cheerful, encouraging ways. Our deepest sympathies. We mourn on earth. They celebrate with Jesus. Prayers and hugs. I loved my cousin so much. We grow up together in Botkins. She was a very classy woman. My dad John Cartwright and Muriel’s dad my Uncle Dick owned the Pure oil station in town. We all spent many hrs in that station. I know with all my heart that the love of her life was waiting in Heaven With open arms Ed. Now they r together for an eternity. May God Bless. We sang in the choir with Myrt & Ed at Tavares First United Methodist Church in Tavares, FL. We loved them both! Such special people. Also visited her through our LRE Visitation when she became ill. We want to express our sympathy in her loss and praying for her family. Reply to this comment

I think they are together again, Myrt and Ed. Those two were a rock and foundation to "my" choir. I know she will be missed but happy they are reunited. Reply to this comment

Myrt and Ed were the kindest, most generous people. I was saddened when they moved from Lake Mary and our family at Grace United Methodist Church. I know they will love being together again. Reply to this comment

Myrt was a sweetheart. We shared a close friendship with her while we were living in Lake Mary. Always smiling, her shining personality added brightness to the lives of everyone who knew her. She is missed. Reply to this comment
