Mary Lasayko
Mary Lasayko, 93, daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully departed this life on May 15, 2017, and entered into Heavenly Grace with her Savior, Jesus. Her devoted daughter, Louise Cox, was at her side along with staff of Overlook at Cedarcrest Assisted Living, Acworth, Georgia.

Mary first came to Georgia in December, 2009, and resided in Dallas, Kennesaw, and lastly in Acworth. She had previously lived in Hebron Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Theodore Lasayko, her parents, John and Mary Plaj, a sister Anne Makis, and her brother John Plaj, Jr.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Louise Cox (Robert) of Dallas, Georgia, son, David Lasayko (Kathy) of Portage, Indiana, and son, Lawrence Lasayko (Stephanie) of Valparaiso, Indiana. Her grandchildren are Kathleen (Adam) Wheeler (Georgia), Alan (Shannon) Cox (Colorado), Matthew (Katie) Lasayko (Indiana), and step-grandson, Matthew Sigler (California). She has five great-grandchildren: Tate, Trace and Hadyn Wheeler, and Caitlyn and Tyler Cox. She has one surviving sister, Helen Kutsko (Fishers, Indiana), and cousin, Ann Polak, (Florida), as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mary was born in Gary, Indiana, and graduated from Froebel High School. Following graduation she was employed by Montgomery Ward Company as a credit clerk. Mary attended Living Hope Lutheran Church in Kennesaw, and was a former member of St. Michael (Hebron, Indiana), Resurrection (Crown Point, Indiana), and Dr. Martin Luther Slovak Evangelical (Gary, Indiana) Lutheran churches.

She was a member of church women’s circles, Bible study groups, and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling with her husband visiting many states from coast to coast and Hawaii. In her younger days, she loved to read books and crochet, producing lovely afghans and intricate doilies. Visiting with her great grandchildren in recent years always brought a smile to her face and joy to her heart.

She truly loved everyone and was not hesitant to tell them so. This is her legacy.
