Ronald Asby

Ronald W. Asby, age69, of Kennesaw, GA, died August 6, 2017.   He was born November 16, 1947, to Basil and Sue Asby,raised in Kansas City, Missouri, and was the oldest of five children. Ron was a Navy Veteran and theformer Commander of American Legion Post 304.  The family will receivefriends for a viewing and visitation on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 4-8 PM atNorthstar Church, 3413 Blue Springs Rd. Kennesaw, GA.  The funeral will beheld on Saturday, August 12, 2017, 2 PM at Kennesaw United Methodist Church,1801 Ben King Rd., Kennesaw. GA.

The burial will take place on Monday, August14, 2017, 11:00 AM, at Georgia National Cemetery, in Canton, GA.  GeorgiaFuneral Care & Cremation Services is proudly serving this Veteran's family. Thereonce was a man from Nantucket…But seriously, about the life ofRonald Ward Asby... 

Ron was born and raisedin Kansas City, Missouri, to Basil and Sue Asby, and was the oldest of fivechildren.  He obtained the rank of EagleScout in 1962.  Ron enlisted in theUnited States Navy, serving from 1967-1973. He was stationed out of Norfolk, VA on the USS Forrestal CVA-59. In themiddle of his military service he married his high school sweetheart and thelove of his life, Lynda Hall, on August 8, 1970.    

Afterhis military service, Ron received his Bachelor’s of Business AdministrationDegree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1975. He was veryinvolved with his children and their various activities, as well as in hischurch.  He joined the American LegionPost 304 in 2006 and became a very active member, serving as Commander from2012-2016.  He continued to be active asthe Past Commander of Post 304, as well as serving within the 5thDistrict of the American Legion of Georgia. More recently Ron became involved with the Kennesaw BusinessAssociation, Acworth Business Association, and Acworth Downtown DevelopmentAuthority; which allowed him to express his love for his community.

Ronpassed away peacefully on August 6, 2017, surrounded by his wife and fourchildren.  He is preceded in death by hisparents and his beloved sister Judy “Toodles” Asby.  He is survived by his loving wife of 47years, Lynda; children Stacy (Christopher) Robinson, Shari (Matthew) Tate,Suzanne (Michael) Brower, Benjamin (Ghost); a motley crew ofgrandchildren:  Vallei, Kelsey, Eli,Nathan, Eva, Scotty, Gavin, Laurel; siblings Dave, Becky, Tim; a multitude ofnieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, all of whom he dearlyloved. 

He will be greatly missed byeveryone who knew him.
