On January 13, 2021 Bernard “Barney” Watt passed peacefully at home in Acworth, GA at age 75 after a long battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.  He was born at San Diego Naval Hospital to Ray and Betty Watt on December 12, 1945.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Ray, biological father, Bernard Knettel, and grandmother, Rene Epach.

Barney was survived by wife, Beverly, of 19 years, Children:  son, Jason, daughter, Alexandra, and husband Jake Stoltman, and two grandsons, Aiden and Deke; 3 stepchildren, Kim, Kelli, and Trey; 6 step grandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren; Two brothers, Chris and David and their families; One sister, Lynne Brendel

Barney graduated from Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, IL in 1964.  He then joined the Air Force and was proud to serve his country in Vietnam.  He was active in the military from 1965 thru 1968, and was in the Reserves till 1971.  He worked in sales in the steel industry for 35 years.

Barney loved God, family, and his country.  One of his passions was cars, especially street rods, and also loved and rode motorcycles.  He had a bigger-than-life personality and was loved by so many wonderful friends, and especially his family.  We are thankful that he is at peace and no longer struggling to breathe, but we will miss him terribly every day.

There will be an honors ceremony at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA for the family.  Also, a Celebration of Life service to be announced at a later date.

Great brother and an even better friend! Miss you a lot and I know in your final days you were worried about your family, but know that we are at peace because you're now at peace. Happy Trails Bro! Reply to this comment

Daddy, We miss you so much. I know you’re at peace with so many loved ones and I’m so grateful for that. It was so hard seeing you go through your pain. But I’m so thankful for all the time we had together. I just wish we had more. We have so many great memories that I’ll never forget. So many great trips together and just little things, like your silliness, your birthday phone calls, your hugs, your wake up song when I was little, singing and dancing to Billy Idol, sending me thoughtful quotes about daughters, and so much more. You are so loved and so missed but we know you are watching over us now. We love you so incredibly much. Rest In Peace.. until we meet again. Reply to this comment
