Drew Griffin was born on October 21, 1962 in the south Chicago suburb of Evergreen Park, Illinois. He died on December 17, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Judy Griffin. He is survived by his wife, Margot, his three children, Ele Gast (Dennis), Louis Griffin and Miles Griffin and his two grandchildren, Marjorie “Rorie” and Herbert “Herbie” Gast, his brothers Peter Griffin (Meg) and Michael Griffin (Nicki). He also leaves behind so many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.

Many will remember him by the South-side Chicago grit that characterized his journalism career, but it is his strong faith in God, deep love for family, razor sharp wit, hilarious sense of humor, and infectious energy that will be his legacy. Drew had a true zest for life, his spirit of adventure led him to see all 50 states, most of Europe, and much of the world. He loved listening to good jazz with good friends and good wine. Drew was a shining light who will forever warm the hearts of those who loved him.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Johns Creek at 10:30am on Friday January 6th. Private lunch to follow with friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Catholic Relief Services (https://www.crs.org) are greatly appreciated.

Hey buddy, I know that you have already made your presence known in Heaven and are keeping everyone on their toes and accountable! Your bigger-than-life persona, booming voice, and engaging friendly style made you truly one of a kind. While your friendship and kindness will be greatly missed, we will all have a soft spot in our hearts for your genuineness and desire for justice. Finally, when Christmas Eve comes each year, our memories of you in Cajun Santa suit reading the Night Before Christmas, will resonate in our souls. and bring a smile to our faces. Love you man!
