Mary Theresa Weppelman Paul

Mary Theresa Weppelman Paul, age 60 of Norfolk, Virginia passed away January 25, 2021. Mary was a Veteran of the United States, serving proudly in the Navy. She was born in Orange Park, Florida in February 1960. Mary Theresa was preceded in death by her father Charles J. Weppelman and a son Kristoffer L. Ritchhart.

Mary is survived by her son Nik [Leslie] and daughter-in-law Rebecca. “Tess”, as she was known to her family, is also survived by her mother Patricia, sister Katherine [Edwin], and brothers Charles and Michael [Mary].

Mary was Aunt to Rebecca [Kerry], Philip [Karli], Kristen [Mike], Cole, Conner, Lindsay [Jake] and Vance [Britney] and Great Aunt to Logan, Aiden, Aubrey, Landon and Elijah, who brought much joy to her. We will miss being “out gifted” by Tess at Elijah’s birthday and Christmas.

Mary Theresa graduated from Clay High School in Green Cove Springs, Florida and kept in touch with many former classmates through social media and her attendance of some reunions.

She graduated from Georgia College and State University and for the last 12 years worked for the Navy Reserve Headquarters in Norfolk, VA. Tresa, as her coworkers knew her, started as a Budget Technician and worked her way up to an Accounting Analyst in the Comptroller’s office. In October 2018, she accepted a promotion as a Program Analyst in the Resource and Contracting Office of the Naval Air Force Reserve. Tresa’s boss John conveyed that she “was a dedicated, hardworking and enthusiastic analyst with a heart of gold, always smiling, and a kind word for everyone”. She will be missed by many coworkers and friends she made through the years.

Tess left us way too soon. We will miss her smile, laughter and sense of humor and we give thanks for her life and the many memories we shared.

“When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.”
