Janis Thompson

Janis Thompson, 89 of Cartersville passed away January 5th, 2023. Born November 7th, 1933. She is preceded in death by her parents James Fletcher Kimsey and Martha Tarrer Kimsey, brother Tommy Kimsey and grandson Chris Thompson. She is survived by 2 sons, Tim Thompson (Kelli) and Nathan Thompson (Karen) both from Cartersville, 4 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Janis retired from the United States Post office as a letter carrier after 28 years, prior to working at the post office, she was a P.E. teacher at Cartersville High School. Also, she was the choir director at Sam Jones Methodist Church from 1964-1969.

Janis was an avid gardener who loved to cook and throw extravagant Christmas gatherings. She also would save any and all animals that she could.  The family will receive friends on Thursday January 12, 2023 at 1:00PM with a short memorial service to follow at 2:30PM at Sam Jones Methodist Church, 100 West Church St. Cartersville Ga 30120 with Pastor Lathem Postell officiating.  In Lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the Sam Jones Methodist Church. Georgia Funeral Care is in charge of the arrangements.
