Pastor Daniel E. Reed

Pastor Daniel E. Reed, 67, of Acworth and retired pastor of Harvest Baptist Church, Acworth was called home suddenly on Friday, October 18, 2019 to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Pastor Reed was born on October 25, 1951 in Birmingham, AL, the son of Raleigh and Onieta (Moyers) Reed.  He graduated from West End High School in Birmingham, AL and went on to Auburn University to pursue an engineering degree. During this time, he realized his need of a Savior, and shortly after, accepted God’s call to preach. He then transferred to Tennessee Temple University and received a Bachelor’s degree in pastoral studies. He pastored for over 43 years in Missouri, Tennessee, and Georgia. In 2016, after battling with his health for many years, he retired from pastoring Harvest Baptist Church, Acworth where he served as pastor for 22 years. His life and ministry has impacted hundreds, influencing full-time Christian workers who are now scattered across the world. He was a devoted pastor to his church and loved his God. He wrote numerous books and received an honorary doctorate from Crown College of the Bible, Knoxville, TN in 2003.

He was married to his high school sweetheart, Donna for 48 years. He has 5 children and 11 grandchildren, and they were his greatest joy in life. He loved to preach, read, write, and Auburn football! His life verse is John 3:30, “He must increase, but I must decrease.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raleigh and Onieta Reed. He is survived by his wife, Donna (House); 5 children: Lisa (Tim) Bacon, Snellville, GA,  Joe (Brecka) Reed, Lawrenceville, GA, Deborah (Aaron) Mishoe, Acworth, GA, Rebekah Reed, and Kara (Bobby) Hayes, Acworth, GA; 11 grandchildren: Kerby Reed, Haven Reed, Amber (John) Moore, Matthew Bacon, Emma Reed, Abigail Mishoe, Drew Bacon, Riley Reed, Hudson Mishoe, Cooper and Blakely Hayes; sisters: Diane (John) Cantrell, Birmingham, AL and Susan (John) Koskelin, Hurst, TX.
