Dennis Whidby

Dennis Whidby, age 72, of Acworth, Georgia, died June 17, 2017. Mr. Whidby was well known as Georgia’s first custom turkey call maker, a member of the NWTF (National Wild Turkey Federation) and 2008 NWTF Midwest Turkey Call Champion. Mr. Whidby retired from the Roswell Eye Clinic where he worked as an Optician for nearly 40 years, and was a long time member of Iron Hill Baptist Church, in Acworth. He is survived by the love of his life, soulmate and wife of 53 years, Cheryl Whidby, of Acworth, 5 children, Cindy Mathis and husband Mark of Cartersville, Georgia, Tim Whidby of Woodstock, Georgia, Denise Samples and husband J.J. of Woodstock, Georgia, Terry Whidby and wife Linda of White, Georgia, and Sheena Agan and husband Joseph of Ranger, Georgia, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren,1 brother and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at 3:00 PM, at Iron Hill Baptist Church, 5172 Groovers Landing Rd. SE, Acworth, Georgia. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral at the church from 1:00 – 3:00 PM.
