On Thursday, August 6, 2020, Jim Mattingly, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather stepped into heaven at the age of 88.
He was born Jimmie Randel Mattingly on June 21, 1932 in Lousiville, KY. A graduate of Dupont Manual High School in Louisville, KY and Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY, he excelled and lettered in football, basketball and baseball.
It was at Georgetown where he met his wife of 64 years, Mae (Wayman) Mattingly. Jim and Mae married after graduation and settled in Louisville where he attended Southern Seminary.
His natural ability to meet people and engage them in conversation served him well as he was extremely successful in the field of hospital management and pharmaceutical sales. In later years Jim enjoyed traveling the southeast semi-retired to work the trade shows and promote New Arch Orthotics.
Life for his wife and family will never be the same as he was larger than the room he was in, he loved to laugh, talk and cheer on his beloved Kentucky Wildcats. His ability to connect and make sure you knew he noticed you in every way will be missed but the memories that are rich will be treasured forever.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence and his mother, Lura. He is survived by his wife Mae, his two daughters, Joy Earle (Jeff), and Jill Mattingly and one sister Joan Dennis of Elizabethtown, KY.
