James Octavius Whelan, Jr

September 19, 1936 - April 18, 2018

Resident of Atlanta, GA

Preceded in death by parents James Octavius and Eva Ruth (Yancee); brother Robert Eric.  Survived by wife, Suellen Torrey; his children, Lee, Jay (Laura Gibson), Jeff (Heather), Jon (Jessie), Jarrett (Rie); Grandchildren, Julia, James, Jonny, Joey, Jordy.

Jim was born and raised in Petersburg, VA.  He proudly served in the Navy.  A graduate of University of Richmond and earned his Masters from St. Francis PA.  Jim served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and was a prominent businessman residing in Johnstown, PA; Myrtle Beach, SC; Atlanta, GA.

Friends and Family are invited to attend a memorial service at the Wilson chapel of Peachtree Presbyterian, 3434 Roswell Road Northwest, Atlanta, GA 30305 on August 4, 2018 at 11:00am.  The family will also be organizing a golf scramble in Atlanta on August 3, 2018; details to be provided at a later date or contact jjwhelan2009@gmail.com
