Gary E. Blodgett, age 79, of Birmingham, AL, died July 5, 2018.  Mr. Blodgett was born and raised in Detroit, MI, later moving to St. Petersburg, FL where he was a track star at St. Petersburg High School.  Mr. Blodgett earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Alabama, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from The University of Alabama in Birmingham, and was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity.  Mr. Blodgett retired from Alabama Power after working there more than twenty five years, and was a member of South Highland Presbyterian Church in Birmingham. He loved to travel, visiting over forty countries and most of the continental United States. He was an avid reader of American & European history, loved to play golf & tennis, and was a huge fan of Bama football and the Atlanta Braves. Mr. Blodgett was preceded in death by his parents Arthur C. Blodgett and Edwina McRoy Blodgett, and brother William A. Blodgett. He is survived by his daughters, Laura C. Blodgett and Elaine L. Blodgett (Keith L. Hausmann), and grandson, Asa W.
