Jennie Benson Bobo Culbreth

Jennie Benson Bobo Culbreth of East Cobb passed away September 4, 2018. Born December 1, 1948 to Barham and Dorothy Bobo. A native Atlantan, Jennie graduated from Dykes High School in 1966 and also attended West Georgia College. Married in December of 1967, Jennie and Tim were blessed with a loving, committed life, two human and multiple four-legged children.

Jennie’s true career calling was caring for pets, volunteering with humane societies, shelters, adoptions and veterinary programs. As the East Cobb Critter Sitter for over 30 years, she lovingly cared for countless furry and other genera clientele. Through American Fox Terrier Rescue, she helped place and transport many to new homes, including several to her own. She was devoted to her human family as well, going all-in with their figure skating and soccer.

Jennie was engrossed in the community. A member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marietta for over five years, she enjoyed the choir, arranging flowers, beautifying the grounds, and hospitality - organizing receptions and food for various functions and post service fellowship with her invention of the DIP. Prior to Holy Trinity, Jennie was similarly active with Grace Community Presbyterian Church, followed by the Back Porch Church at her home for many years. As a life long member of North Avenue Presbyterian Church, she joined her father in the choir and through her mother’s group, The North Avenue Butterflies, touched many lives through Meals on Wheels and Homebound programs. She was also a regular at Resurrection Lutheran soup kitchen. Jennie was well known for her cooking, baking, floral arrangements and unending willingness to help people. She enjoyed baking and feeding people outside of church as well. She graced veterinarians, pet groomers, mechanics, pharmacists, etc. with baked treats and feasts.

Jennie is preceded in death by her father Barham Francis Bobo and many four-legged children Stony, Scooter, Pup-Pup, Roswell and a host of others. She is survived by her mother Dorothy Estes Bobo, brother Barham Francis “Frank” Bobo Jr, husband Timothy Earl Culbreth, daughter Patricia Ann Culbreth Brown (Paul), son Timothy Robert Culbreth (Heather), four-legged sons Jack and Chase, and three grand children Ryan Thomas Brown, Elizabeth Benson Brown, Althea Cleo Culbreth.

The Family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of prayers and support from church, family, friends and community as well as the compassionate care provided by the Kennestone Neuroscience Unit and LifeLink of Georgia Foundation, through which Jennie has donated life to others.

Memorial Services, reception following, will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, September 16 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2922 Sandy Plains Road in Marietta. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to American Fox Terrier Rescue http://foxterrierrescue.net., Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Marietta http://htelcm.org/giving/, and LifeLink of Georgia Foundation https://www.lifelinkfoundation.org.
