Linda Axelroad

Linda Axelroad, age 65, of Atlanta, GA, died August 3, 2018. Linda marched to the beat of a different drummer, which was refreshing to people close to her.

She LOVED the outdoors and nature, and often got up before sunrise, to begin her day with very long walks and jogs, and even longer bike rides.  She literally always made time to stop and smell the flowers and talk to the squirrels. Linda relished her visits with her “buddy” and best friend in Maine where she spent hours hunting sea glass along the coastline. She would say that computers and technology were her weak points. Others viewed that as a strength, being the grateful recipients of her creative, descriptive, beautifully written snail mail letters.

Linda’s creativity was a part of everything she did. When she cooked, she loved concocting dishes that were beyond your basic “let’s eat” meals. She enjoyed making food that “gave the ole taste buds a treat.”   Her apartment was like an arts and crafts museum, chock full of her creative, imaginative artwork, often constructed from objects she picked up on her walks and bike rides, and sea glass she collected from Maine. In every nook and cranny you could find a gem. Linda would say that she liked work that kept her busy and kept her moving. From 1991 until recently she worked as a member of Union Local 834, as a decorator at trade shows. She did everything from laying carpet, to loading and unloading trucks, to installing and dismantling booths, and used her creativity to assist exhibitors to make their booths look great. Her former employees gave her the nickname “the hardest working woman in show business.”

Linda is survived by her brother, Rocky Axelroad of Phoenix, AZ., and her best “buddy” Roberta “Rob’ Bass, of Bradenton, FL.  Linda once wrote, “it was a pleasure and a pain this here living” and she was “quite content with her years of existence.”  She’ll be greatly missed.  Condolences can be left at www.GeorgiaFuneralCare.com
